Il faut que je me dépêche parce qu’on m’attend à Chennai
Il faut que j’aille prendre le Taxi, prendre le Taxi à Paris
I remember landing long time back in this country and watching the black with yellow colored cabs waiting at every corner whether the airport or the station to pick you up and dropped you at your destination. It was a sight you could see everywhere, all around you, the most preferred mode of travel for most. I had met some of the most courteous people riding me around, helping me cope with the unknown language, each step. I loved the attention and care I was getting from there. And so of course this time when I wanted to visit the country again this was one I looked forward to. But I guess I was too late. There was none left when I got back now. Of course there were another set of taxis now, white cabs with yellow nameplates, calling themselves 'call taxis'. But they could never match the previous ones. I miss the Taxis and my friends in them.
